Dear Mr. Wilmink,
thank you very much for putting me on your distribution list.
I wrote to Benjamin Twigg today and asked him to send me a reprint of
his booklet from 1945.
You wrote, that you have the book "Pictorial History of the 75th
Division". Would it be possible to copy me the photos of Appenwihr ? My
father would be very glad. I gladly refund your expenses.
The following former soldiers of the 75th Inf Div were in the last
decades in Appenwihr and left my father their adress:
Freddie Puls, Dan Mc Fergus, Joe Pat Ward, Harold Lindstron, Beldon A
Peters, Benjamin Twigg, Philip Bradley, Robert M Smith, Billy B. Black,
Robert Mc Elroy, Spencer R Smith, Donald W Applegate.
Are you interested to recieve the adresses ?
Very Sincerely Yours

From: Carol Bradley
Subject: The video tapes
Dear Mr. Wilmink,
It is good that you have revived the web page and are getting so many
inquiries and notes from all over.
You indicated that people in Europe cannot use the 800 number to order
the videotapes from the Kansas City program. Has anyone tried? The
store owner thinks it works.
Nevertheless, the fax number is:614-231-6842.
Please pass this on to your distribution list. We have had many
wonderful comments from people who have viewed the tapes.
Sincerely,
Carol Bradley

in the winter wilds of Europe.
(From the moderator: I know, that I am late with the message, but all of
our lost emails had to be restored. Do you have a fax number of the

>From Germany to Warbucks:
Dear Sir,
thank you for your email above.
I will try to help you. Do you have any more informations about the man
? Do you know at what date or place he died ? What unit was he in ?
If you send me an email with all informations that you have, including
your adress
with phone number, I can post it on our 75th Div newsline, that a lot of
veterans read. I am sure that somebody will have a good idea.
You can also read the past issues of our newsline on our homepage:
www.mknet.de/75th which maybe contains some helpful adresses.
It would be useful, if you would know the unit or the service number
of the man.
You could then contact a veterans association of the unit or the central
register in St. Louis.

The steps for the people who are looking for information on GIs killed
overseas are on the Dad's War web page, including the appropriate phone
numbers and addresses:

They should look in the section of the page called "First Steps".

4.) New list-member veteran John Green, 275th Eng, 75th Div found !
From: sundance@onramp.net
Date: Mon, 02 Mar 1998 15:50:50 -0600
subject: 75th Division
Dear Mr. Wilmink:
The son of a deceased friend, with whom I served in the 75th Infantry
Division in Europe, recently sent me the URL for your "unofficial" home
page of the 75th Division. I am amazed at the information you have
gathered and inserted in that site, and I know it must have involved a
large amount of work. I wish I could be of some help to you in locating
the flags you described, but unfortunately I was not aware of them so am
unable to contribute any information in that respect.
I was a young junior officer (first lieutenant) assigned to the 275th
Engineers of the 75th Division until the end of the war in Europe. I
remember being in Iserlohn and Plettenberg, although I was in each place
only a very short time.
About the time the war in Europe ended, I was transferred from the 75th
Division to a Military Government Detachment in Fulda, where I remained
until being sent back to the U.S. for discharge. I met a number of very
nice people while in Fulda, and have fond memories of many of them.
(Most were considerably older than I, and are probably deceased now).
While I was stationed in Fulda, a very fine (then) young lady from
Iserlohn, named Erika Buda, worked as a civilian secretary in our
office. I remember meeting her mother when she came on a visit to
Fulda. Erika was a bright person, who spoke 5 languages, and had lived
for a time in South America before returning to Germany with her family
shortly before the start of WWII. I believe she mentioned having
attended school in Munich for some period of time. She was still working
for the Military Government office in Fulda when I was sent back to the
states in 1946.
I also remember a (then) young lady named Maria Ebert who worked in the
Labor Office (Arbeitsamt?) in Fulda, but who lived in a small nearby
town named Bronzell (sp?).
There was also a young, red-haired German boy (teenager) named Walter,
whose last name I've forgotten, who worked at the Military Government
office there, as well as a number of other civilian secretaries in that
office.
I've often thought of all those people and have wondered from time to
time where they are now.
It is so good to know about your web site and the very fine work you're
doing with it. Incidentally, I hope to go to Houston and visit the
museum there sometime soon.
Thank you so very much for the time and effort you've devoted to that
project. I have never been a member of the Association of the 75th
"exes", and had not even been aware that such an Association exists. I
also had no idea about the history of the 75th since the time it was
deactivated upon returning to the states.
I certainly hope you manage to find the flags you described.
With very best wishes,
John Green

Dear Mr. Green,
thank you very much for your email.
It is very good to hear, that I could bring a veteran and the 75th Vets
Assn together.
The veterans association has a natural loss of members, and on the other
side, there are a lot of veterans of the Divison out there like you,
that never have heard of the veterans association. If through our
homepage, I can bring old buddies after all those years together makes
me very happy.
I will include you in our distribution list of the 75th Div email
newsline. You can find past issues of that newsline on our homepage.
We also have members of the actual 75th Div in Houston, Texas, in our
email distribution list, including the Commanding General Darrel
McDaniel. If you want to make a contact to the museum, I would be glad
to forward your email to the museum.
Maybe it also would be interesting for you to visit the next reunion of
the 75th in Spokane, WA. You will find more infos about the reunion and
the adress of the president of the veterans association on our homepage.
I will see if I can maybe find some of the people that you mentioned in
your email.
